The unidentified Republic pilot was a Galactic Republic pilot in the years before the Invasion of Utapau. While in Anchorhead on Tatooine, the pilot met Annikin Skywalker and his friends in a cantina and told him the legend of Revan, a Jedi Knight during the Jedi Civil War who located a super-weapon called the Star Forge. The pilot also told Skywalker and the others about the Jedi Order, saying that members of the Order were meant to avoid feelings that could be considered destructive. Skywalker continued to think of this pilot many years later.
