The Order of the Sith Lords was a Sith order founded in the aftermath of the destruction of the Brotherhood of Darkness at the end of the New Sith Wars. The Order of the Sith Lords was founded by Darth Bane, who became its first Dark Lord of the Sith. He established the guiding principle of the Rule of Two, which said that there would only be two Sith at one time: a master who embodied power, and an apprentice who craved it. Future Dark Lords worked to fulfill the promise of Darth Bane, namely the destruction of the Jedi Order.
