Gadgols are evil creatures that delighted in flying against the tree trunks in the Forest of Burzee. Their poisonous contact wounds the trees so that they droop and die. It is one of the duties of the Wood Nymphs to scare away the Gadgols, and in the years since the forest began, the Gadgols no longer dare to come near. (The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus)
