The Starkindler was a device created by the Tkon Empire, based on the Shedai metagenome and ancient Preserver technology. It was powerful enough to actually transport stars thousands of light-years across space, or even create entire star systems out of disassociated matter. Dr. Bill Hoesch was familiar with the legends of the Starkindler, and taught them to Timothy Sinclair. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Diluvium")
