GT never occured, but TK takes place 13 years after the end of the upcoming battle of gods saga that we're getting in 2014. There will little to no mention or appearances of the original characters of dbz such as goku and the Z-fighters, as DBTK focuses on a new group of fighters headed by a young human male by the name of Kaggy. Initially, it is just about a group of teens that want to find the dragon balls for themselves and have their wishes be granted by the mystical Dragon Shenron, though things get far more complicated than that as they are dragged deep into the dark underbelly of the world.
