George Quayle Cannon (January 11, 1827 - April 12, 1901) was a British-born Mormon and American settler. He was an early member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He was the church's chief political strategist, and was dubbed "the Mormon premier" and "the Mormon Richelieu" by the press. He was also five-time Territorial Delegate from Utah. Like many of his colleagues, Cannon was a missionary for his churchbin its early days. He married fives wives and fathered 32 children, for which he served a six month prison sentence. He died of natural causes at the age of 74.
