Candy is the Cartwright's foreman of the ranch. Canaday, a plucky Army brat turned cowboy ("Sense of Duty", episode 271, September 24, 1967), who became the Cartwrights' confidant, ranch foreman, and timber vessel captain.Candy became very close to the Cartwrights, as close as family. Many times he risked his life for them.
