Bettabuy was the name of the supermarket (introduced in 1989) which employed Reg Holdsworth, Curly Watts and Andy McDonald as part of management and had among the staff Vera Duckworth, Ivy Brennan, and Maureen Holdsworth. The shop was located in Albert Road, close to Coronation Street. A real branch of Morrisons supermarket in Eccles was used for filming the Bettabuy scenes. The Bettabuy staff even wore the Morrisons' staff uniform of the time (dark blue nylon, with a blue and white check at the top.) Morrison's later started selling a "Bettabuy" budget brand as a cheeky tribute.
