Meredith was the sister of Alison Parker. She went away to school when she was ten years old and only saw Alison on holidays. They were not close growing up, but after Alison remembered that her father, John Parker, molested her as a child, she reconnected with Meredith to learn that the same thing had happened to her. Meredith later came to visit Alison in Los Angeles. Alison encouraged her to date and to take control over her sexuality.
