Ed was a mercenary of the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service, a company of hired-hands of shady backgrounds trained to dispose B.O.W.s, should there ever be a biological outbreak large enough to require their assistance. Ed was assigned to the squad of Klaus, who were sent on a special mission different from the other UBCS present in Raccoon City. Their mission was to collect Dr. Cameron's data on a new virus created during the outbreak.
