Lazaro Kotikash was a Masai, the Masai were a nomadic tribe in East Africa, most notably Kenya. Alpha Squadron suffered a great loss when they were told that Northstar had been killed in the line of duty. The team was assigned a new advisor, Karma. Tragedy once again struck after M-Day, when most of the student body of the Xavier Institute was depowered, Kidogo being one of them. When the depowered mutants boarded the bus leaving the Institute the bus was destroyed by one of William Stryker's bombs; however he was not on the bus that exploded as he was later revealed to be alive by Stan Lee.
