Masao Yamamoto is a Japanese programmer working for Nintendo. The first lead programmer for R&D1, Yamamoto was the director of programming for Nintendo's earliest games, including Donkey Kong, VS. Balloon Fight, many Game & Watch and Game Boy titles, Metroid and Metroid II: Return of Samus. On the original Metroid, Yamamoto was a director of programming.
