Smithmagic Potion is a resource. Smithmagic Potions are used by Smithmaguses and Carvmaguses to change the properties of Weapons. Smithmagic Potions allow a magus to attempt to change a weapon from neutral to elemental damage (the original damage must be Neutral, it must also be regular damage, not a steal), and the result, if succesful, will be a weapon with less base elemental damage than it was neutral, depending on the potion.
