The 1998-99 German 1. Liga season was the first and only season of the 1. Liga as the third level of German hockey below the Deutsche Eishockey Liga and the Eishockey-Bundesliga. REV Bremerhaven won the championship. The Oberliga was re-introduced as the third tier league for 1999-2000.
