Petty officers (Erei'Ereins), in the Romulan Star Navy and the Tal Shiar, were the senior enlisted personnel. Cadets were treated like petty officers while on their cadet cruise. However, unlike Starfleet, Erei'Ereins had no rating, only specialties. Their Romulan Ground Forces equivalents were Sergeants. Tal Shiar petty officers were usually second-year cadets. (RIS Bouteina)
