Captain Kirk was arguably the most famous and highly-decorated starship captain in the history of Starfleet. Over the span of three decades in the later 23rd century, he commanded the Constitution-class starships USS Enterprise-NCC-1701 and USS Enterprise-NCC-1701-A, and also served for a time as a Rear Admiral of Starfleet High Command and as Starfleet's Chief of Operations at their headquarters in San Francisco. Over the course of his legendary career, he served the Federation's interests as an explorer, soldier, time-traveler, and diplomat.
