Operation: Thermal Hazard was a battle that caused the Solar War. The Empire learned that the Republic used thermal weapons, such as the thermal cannon. This provoked them and the Mandalorians to capture the thermal cannon, and to form an alliance with the Iradonians. The Empire assaulted the planet of Utapau, where the thermal cannon was located. Silias's mission was to protect the thermal cannon and his troops were diverted to counter the Empire's every move. The Mandalorian fleet then appeared, seemingly from nowhere, and the Republic had to fight a second enemy. Silias was not too worried, but then the Iradonain fleet surfaced.
