It provides information solutions in the form of databases and research reports. CMIE has built the largest database on the Indian economy and companies. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy is a research group based in India. It was founded by Narottam Shah in 1976. When he died in 1984, it was headed by D. T. Lakdawala.
