Rifaat Abdul (Arabic:رفعت عبد) was a Qatifi admiral and statesman who led the Qatifi Armed Forces in the Qatif-Trucial War, being instrumental in the invasion of Bahrain serving as its provisional military governor. He also served as the Chairman of the Financial Committee from 1962 to 1971, and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee from 1962 to 1967. He had previously played a large role in the 1961 Qatifi coup d'état and in the formation of the Revolutionary Committee who he was a senior member of. It was Abdul who was largely blamed for Qatif's failure in the war against the Trucial States and was as such imprisoned until his death in 1972. Under Abdul's economic policies Qatif industrialised with large scale nationalisation, economic planning and land reform being implemented.
