The Belgian Commission for the Protection of Privacy (CPP) (better known as the Privacy Commission) was established by the Act of 8 December 1992 on the protection of privacy in relation to the processing of personal data (better known as the "Privacy Act"/"Data Protection Act"). On the basis of the Privacy Act, the Privacy Commission, as an independent body, ensures that personal data are used and protected with due care, and that citizens' privacy remains safeguarded.
