The enter key (or the return key on Macs) in most cases causes a command line, window form, or dialog box to operate its default function. This is typically to finish an "entry" and begin the desired process, and is usually an alternative to pressing an OK button. In the Need For Madness games, it's main purpose is to confirm menus and pause the game. Another way to do this is to click on the screen. In a Multiplayer game, however, the pause menu will keep the game going, and will just have a choice saying "Exit Game?" If the player says yes, he/she will be disconnected from the game, have their car wasted, and lose that game.
