Porvay Yan was a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku. Years after a battle between the Galactic Empire and the New Republic, Yan found an intact and functional shuttle attached to a crashed Mon Calamari Cruiser, which crashed during the battle, in the Graveyard of Ships. The scavenger traded the shuttle, enabling Yan to leave Jakku.
