Dr. Darrell Maines was an attendee of Senator David Palmer's Presidential Primary campaign party at his hotel in Los Angeles toward the end of Day 1. After David Palmer left Patty Brooks and moved through the celebrating crowd to see his wife Sherry, Sherry introduced him to Dr. Maines and his colleague Dr. Bryan Chasin, both from UCLA. Senator Palmer recognized them and complimented the doctors on their fine work in AIDS research. After Sherry left, David asked them what he could do to support their research, once he was in office.
