Dirk Turnip is the egocentric leader of the highwaymen. He is described as unpleasant and refuses to train his men when they return to him, bruised and beaten. Nevertheless, Dirk retains his followers, who figure this life is better than going back to live in the woods with Robin. Apparently, highwaymen used to work for Robin but left his service due to the ridiculous dress code and the fact they had to sleep in the forest. Dirk has four children and a wife.
