Andalusia was a shortlived state on the Iberian peninsula. Originally, it was carved out from Spain after the third French Republican War. The new republic covered the whole south of Spain between Portugal and Valencia, cutting off Castille from the sea. After anti-French uprisings in Andalusia in 1801, Britain and Morocco attempted a landing in Spain, which the French still defeated.
