Gimli Lockbearer was a dwarf of Dúrin's Folk, a direct descendant of Dúrin the Deathless through Náin II's younger son Bórin, and in turn Fárin's younger son Gróin, and his younger son Glóin II. Despite being very young at the time of the Quest of Erebor (only 62), Gimli eventually became a member of Thórin & Company and fought in the Battle of Seven Armies alongside his cousin Tali, who was slain. During the War of the Ring, he became famous as the only Dwarven member of the Fellowship of the Ring to destroy the One Ring.
