In 1905 PD, Prentis held the rank of Commodore and served as the commanding officer of Battlecruiser Division 53, with HMS Defiant as his flagship. Even though he was a new arrival on Hancock Station, he went to a staff meeting aboard HMS Nike after a poor battle exercise. He was killed when the Defiant was destroyed in the First Battle of Hancock. (HH3)
