The 1997 Busch Clash was a Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) exhibition race for the 1996 pole winners run on February 9 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Jeff Gordon, who started dead last in 14th, led 9 of 20 laps en route to his second Clash victory, taking the checkered flag in his DuPont Chroma Premier special scheme car over rival Rusty Wallace. This race marked another eligibility change for the Clash. This race ended the practice of including the driver who won the most poles in the NASCAR Busch Series, reverting to the original format of including only previous year's pole winners and one wild-card second-round qualifying winner chosen by a random draw.
