If Link speaks to the Lake Scientist while wearing the Spooky Mask, he will inform the hero that the mask is made from a wooden plank that was once part of a coffin. If Link talks to Dampé while wearing the mask, the gravekeeper asks Link if he knows where the mask is from, and that he would not be wearing it if he knew. If Link dons the Spooky Mask during the nighttime hours, an eerie glow will emit from the object. However this ability is absent in Ocarina of Time 3D. Interestingly, the Spooky Mask resembles the face of a ReDead, which is likely what the mask is designed to mimic.
