Mario Matthew Cuomo (born June 15, 1932) is the former Vice President of the United States (1993-1997) under John Burwin and Governor of New York from 1983 until 1990, when he was term limited. Cuomo's son Andrew served in the Burwin administration and was Governor of New York from 1999-2002. A liberal icon, Cuomo is well-known for his keynote address at the 1988 Democratic Party Convention, "A Tale of Two Cities," which is often cited as being the inspiration for the wave of liberals and progressives elected to Congress in the 1990 Liberal Landslide.
