Isocitrate, chemically altered from Citrate, is part of the second step of the Citric Acid Cycle. It releases Carbon Dioxide and a hydrogen to form the five-carbon compound ketoglutarate and the electron carrier Nicotinamide Adenosine Dinucleotide Hydrogen.
