A poet is someone who writes poets, which are stanzas with, like, thirty words in them (or something). This job was rated #2 in the List of the easiest jobs in America, due to the fact that all you have to do is think up a stanza and a name for it every few years and your friggin rich. Surely everyone would want to be a poet, you'd think, right? It's a lot easier than being, like, an electrician, because all they get to do is work on cars all day, which can get boring and hard after doing it for a long enough period of time.
