The After Landing or AL designation was the official time reckoning in the Star Kingdom of Manticore, although most people used the PD system in day-to-day life. An AL date described how many Manticoran years (with one Manticore year equalling 1.7333 T-years) ago the first shuttle from the colony ship Jason landed on the planet Manticore.
