The Summa deep space incident, alternatively referred to in some literature as the skirmish near Summa, was a skirmish between four warships of the UNSC Navy, and one vessel of the Covenant Navy. The UNSC achieved victory, though at heavy loss of life, and subsequently revised its doctrine on close range ship combat and the usage of extra-vehicular infantry.
