Kuni Kaji was a shugenja and Emerald Magistrate of the Crab Clan. In 991 he exposed a Mamono, a supai oni, at Shiro no Soshi. Kaji used his wards to kill it, and he was wise enough to cut the oni in three pieces, burying them separately. It avoided the oni could reawaken completely healed.
