Russell Spokes (1 October 1865 - 22 April 1906) was an accountant and politician. Born in Berkshire, he was the fourth son of Sir Peter Spokes a banker and Mayor of Reading and his wife Rebecca neƩ Silverthorne. Progressive Party member of the London County Council representing Newington, Walworth 1895-1906. He made a number of attempts to won a seat in the House of Commons as a Liberal Party candidate without success. In December 1905 he withdrew his name as prospective candidate for St Pancras West due to illness. Shareholder in the Grosvenor Hotel [1]
