The Indiana Jones franchise is a series of four movies first conceived of by George Lucas of Star Wars and Steven Spielberg of Jaws (and later Earthian Expedition) in the late-1970s. The first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, was released to rave reviews in 1981, and as such was followed by three sequels, most recently ending with the fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Lost City, in 1992.
