A tricorn or tricorne, also named tri-cornered hat or three-cornered hat, was a style of hat popular during the late 17th and 18th centuries. It was commonly worn as civilian dress and as part of military and naval uniforms. During the Age of Piracy, many pirates and officers of the British Royal Navy and the Spanish Armada had worn a tricorn. Captain Jack Sparrow owned a tricorn hat, as did James Norrington, Davy Jones, and Blackbeard.
