Introduced in 12 ABY, the UD-series utility droid was developed to cater to the Altari and other saurian species, but quickly became a big hit with the average Confederate citizen. The UD-series came only with a basic processor, but Republic Automaton offered a wide range of upgrades to make the droid fit almost any purpose. By 18 ABY, the UD-series was on its third incarnation (UD-3).
