There was once a series of cities lining the river, among them N’karaphal, Trebur, Inath’an Merusin, Vinith, Hedori Kwil, and Tramara. Of these, only Inath'an Merusin (now known as Mersin) survived. All of these settlements practised intensive irrigation, drawing the river’s waters out onto the plains, and cleared forests to build ships. Eventually the plains lost their top-soil and the rivers became heavy with silts. The plains turned into the deserts now known as Lato Odhan east of the river and Ugarat Odhan on the west side.
