Germany is a country located in central Europe. It is bordered to the north by Denmark and to the south by the former territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its actual territory is much smaller to its pre-1991 territory, now being only formed by the states of Hamburg and all of Schleswig-Holstein west of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, and all of Lower Saxony west of the Elbe-Weser Waterway.
