Manchester-born actor and theatre director Graham Gill appeared on Coronation Street in March 1995 as Gavin Moss, a hairdresser who worked in a gentleman's salon where Reg Holdsworth went to have a toupee fitted. Originally active in the amateur dramatic societies 'Up North', he worked part-time in The Jacobean Banquets at Worsley Old Hall, Manchester as a court herald. The manager there was also an actor and coached him through to auditions in London. His day job at the time was as a wood machinist in Salford. Leaving the area in 1981, he trained at the Mountview Theatre School.
