The Onikage Ranges were pens dedicated to the breeding of onikage. They were created at the command of Daigotsu to have ready mounts for messengers. The Ranges were barrens around the City of the Lost where onikage roamed freely. Rokugani horses were stolen and bred in special stores shielded from the taint, so new colts would be born there. After reaching adulthood, steeds were taken to the slaughterhouse, to have their corpses reanimated by the Taint as onikage.
