Ormond first gained notice co-starring in the 1989 miniseries Traffik (along with Bill Paterson, Lindsay Duncan, and Tilo Prückner). Other TV and some film followed until her big break, as the romantic interest in Legends of the Fall. Leading roles in First Knight and Sabrina followed, but she later shifted mostly to independent films and supporting roles in more mainstream fare (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). She recurred on Mad Men as Marie Calvet and on Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Dr. Paula Gyson.
