There have been two agents with the number 86: 1. Maxwell Smart. See Main Article. 2. Unseen CONTROL agent to whom the Chief briefly assigns the number when it is thought that Max will not return from what seems a hopeless mission [Episode #39: "Rub-A-Dub-Dub... Three Spies in a Sub"]. Presumably this agent was later given another number.
