The Hero of the Republic was one of the highest and oldest military decorations of the Galactic Republic. It was given to individuals that had a long history of notable military achievements. It was used until the obliteration of the Old Republic. After the restoration of the Republic, this decoration was replaced by other awards due to the revamping of the award system that occurred in its first years.
