Created under London Government Act 1899. Formed from the civil parishes of St Andrew Holborn Above the Bars with St George the Martyr, St Giles in the Fields and St George Bloomsbury, The Liberty of Saffron Hill, Hatton Garden, Ely Rents and Ely Place, and two of the Inns of Court: Lincoln's Inn and Staple Inn. In 1965 it was amalgamated with the Metropolitan Borough of St Pancras and the Metropolitan Borough of Hampstead to form the London Borough of Camden.
