Actually the real reason why there are moggles in Secret of Mana is because, it was actually supposed to be the sequel to Final Fantasy Adventure but was later renamed to Secret of Mana. There is evidence to support this fact: 1) the japanese name of Secret of Mana is Seiken Densetsu 2, the '2' in the name supports the fact that it is the second in the series 2) Final Fantasy Adventure was released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden. Secret of Mana is widely accepted by gamers as part of the Final Fantasy series even though it does not have Final Fantasy in its name.
