Beechcraft Model 17 C17B construction number 110, original registration NC15838. Completed on 29 November 1936, it was flown as a company demonstrator to show the safety of the type's retractable undercarriage. A brake was fitted to enable the propeller to be stopped in a horizontal position, allowing the aircraft to be deliberately belly-landed. The fuselage of this aircraft was used to rebuild c/n 102 after a crash in 1939.
