The M1885 Remington-Lee is a bolt action, removable box magazine rifle made by James Paris Lee. It is said to be the world's first modern military rifle. The Lee utilized the first successful box magazine. The rifle was chambered in 45 70 and 43. Spanish. Production started in 1879 and ended in 1892. It would later evolve into the famous Lee-Metford and Lee-Enfield rifles when James Lee returned to Britain.
